Discussed the Watershed and Estuary Management

      2009 WOW’s Scientific Forum on Watershed and Estuary Management had opened yesterday in Xiamen Conference & Exhibition Center. Ms. Hong Huasheng, Former Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, Professor of Xiamen University, Mr. Pan Shijian, Vice Mayor of Xiamen Municipal Government, attended the event.
     The Forum on Watershed and Estuary Management is one of the central forums of 2009 WOW. How to combine the coastal & estuary management with watershed management is the focus issue of this forum. Over than 300 experts made the discussion about the problem on impact of estuary ecosystem from climate change.
        The first cooperation of WOW and Stockholm WWW, which concluded the “Sister Weeks” last year, is one of the highlights. The two forums, which regard “freshwater” and “seawater” as their themes respectively, have entered substantial cooperation, searched the solvent from management and policy collectively. It will deeply affect the watershed and estuary integrated management in Xiamen, China, even the world.
        Mr. Pan Shijian figured out, through research of several years, Xiamen government has got a certain development on watershed and estuary management. He wish through the platform of “Forum on Watershed and Estuary Management”, we can learn the excellent experiences from coastal cities all over the world, improve the management level of watershed and estuary management, promote the marine ecosystem civilization construction, and quicken the coordinative development of economy and society in Xiamen.
