Over 100 Officers from Developing countries had discussed the Experience of Marine Management

Over 100 government officers and experts from more than 30 countries locates in Asia, Africa, South Pacific and Caribbean area had participated in the “Forum on the Oceans and Coastal Zones Management in Developing Countries” in Xiamen.
Mr. Wang Shichun, Director of Foreign Assistant Division, Ministry of Commerce, China, had a opening speech, he said the Chinese government was paying much attend to the issues and challenges related to marine, all countries should make an alliance to strengthen the exchange and cooperation of integrated costal management and improve the coastal resources and environment situation.
Among the keynote speeches, Mr. Yuan Wuqi, Researcher from Fujian Institute of Oceanography said, marine islands have special ecosystem, which is important part of marine resources, we should insist the principle of “develop in the protection and protect in the development”, and make economic value without the sacrifice of environment.
Mr. Yuan Wuqi thought, the departments and person which get the rights of developing marine islands should be programmed in the field of developing scale, style and protection of ecosystem and environment, which to ensure the vegetation, freshwater and other resources not be destroyed.
The officers from Peru, Burma, Kenya and other developing countries made the reports on marine and costal management in their own countries and discussed with other participants about the issues on protection and utilization of marine islands & management of marine fishery resources.
This forum is a part of 2009 WOW, which organized by Fujian Institute of Oceanography, Xiamen Science and Technology Bureau.
