                 Pan Shijian-Vice Mayor of Xiamen Government chaired the “Organizing Working Meeting of 2009 World Ocean Week in Xiamen”
        On 7, Aug, Pan Shijian-Vice Mayor of Xiamen Government chaired the “Organizing Working Meeting of 2009 World Ocean Week in Xiamen”. On the meeting, Mayor Pan heard the report of recent organizing work from WOW Secretariat, and made the relevant arrangement of organizing work in next phase.

1. Prof. Jan Lundqvist, Stockholm International Water Institute, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in topic of “Watershed Resources and Environmental Management”.
2. Prof. Jonathan H. Sharp, College of Marine and Earth Studies, University of Delaware, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in topic of “Integrated Watershed and Estuary Management-Scientific Support”.
3. Prof. Weijin Yan, Institute of Geographic Science and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in topic of “Integrated Watershed and Estuary Management-Scientific Support”.
4. Dr. Di Jin, Woods Hole Oceanography Institute, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in topic of “Watershed Resources and Environmental Management”.
5. Prof. Huasheng Hong, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in topic of “Integrated Watershed and Estuary Management-Scientific Support”.。

[Organizing Progression]
         Pan Shijian-Vice Mayor of Xiamen Government chaired the “Organizing Working Meeting of 2009 World Ocean Week in Xiamen”
         On 7, Aug, Mayor Pan chaired the organizing working meeting of 2009 WOW in Xiamen. On the meeting, the WOW Secretariat reports the organizing work of WOW. Mayor Pan heard the report, expressed the approval of early organizing work and made the important arrangement in the next phase:
1. About the aspect of forum, we should pay more attention to “scientific forum” and “forum on protection of dolphins and whales”. The scientific forum is the first cooperation with Stockholm World Water Week after we concluded the “Sister Week”. We should contact with “Sister Week” actively, learn the points of their conference and highlight the professional and scientific of the forum. “Forum on Protection of Dolphins and Whales” is highlight of protection of marine ecology; we should pay much attention to it.
2. The aspect of exhibition. The yachts industry and leisure fisheries are very important components of marine economy, we should do these exhibitions well and promote the development of marine economy.
3. The aspect of marine culture activities. The marine culture activities are in public, all organizing works are going smoothly. At present, we should pay more attention to the organizing work of National Undergraduate Marine Knowledge Competition, invite the undergraduates from Taiwan to attend and promote the communication between Mainland and Taiwan.
4. At the end of August, the Second Organizing Working Meeting will be hold, every activity will be established and the overall concepts of next WOW will be informed.

 
                               Secretariat of WOW in Xiamen visited Organizing Committee of WWW
         Since Xiamen WOW and Stockholm WWW concluding as “Sister Weeks”, the two weeks have became close gradually and developed the cooperation further. On Jul. 31, 2009, Lin Haiqing, Director of Xiamen Oceans & Fisheries Bureau, and his delegates had visited Anders Berntell, the Secretariat-general of Organizing Committee of WWW, with the purpose of strengthening the linkage between two weeks further, deepening cooperation contact of “Sister Weeks”, and promoting the international influential of Xiamen WOW.

                          The Delegates of Xiamen University will visit the Organizing Committee of WWW
         In order to strengthen and promote the exchange and cooperation between Xiamen WOW and Stockholm WWW, the delegates of Xiamen University will visit the Organizing Committee of WWW, learn the successful experiences of WWW, talk about the organizing work of “Forum on Watershed and Estuary Management” in next phase, and discuss the larger and broader exchange and cooperation between two weeks.

                          The supporting activities of International Yachts & Boats Exhibition are colorful
         The relevant organizing work of 2009 International Yachts & Boats Exhibition is going smoothly. At that time,  the exhibition will held some supporting activities, such as: the opening ceremony of exhibition, the wine party of exhibition, cross-strait yachts baby contest, yachts supplier and purchaser fair, the yachts promotion show, yachts trial experience and introduction of new product of yachts and so on.
