                                                CAI Shouguo, Party Secretary of Municipal Government General Office,
                                                               checked the related organizing work
On Jul. 15, CAI Shouguo, the Director of Secretariat of 2009 World Ocean Week Organizing Committee and the Party Secretary of General Office of Xiamen Municipal, led the related personnel of WOW Secretariat to go to Xiamen International Conference Center, Road and Bridge Group, listen to the report of preparation work on WOW Concert and Exhibition of Yachts and deploy the work of next stage.

1. Prof. Eric Wloanski, James Cook University, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in the Session Ι: Impacts of Global Changes on Estuary Ecosystem.
2. Prof. Zhongyuan CHEN, State Key Laboratory for Estuarine and Coastal Research, East China Normal University, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in the Session Ι: Impacts of Global Changes on Estuary Ecosystem.
3. Prof. Thomas Leschine, University of Washington, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in Session Ι: Impacts of Global Changes on Estuary Ecosystem.
4. Mr. Jakob Granit, Project Director, Stockholm International Water Institute, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in Session П:  Watershed Resources and Environment Management.
5. Dr. Vicente Tuddao, Executive Director, River Basin Control Office, Philippines, had confirmed to attend the forum on Watershed and Estuary Management and make a presentation in Session П: Watershed Resources and Environment Management.

                                        CAI Shouguo, Secretary of General Office of Xiamen Municipal Government, 
                                           inspected the preparation woke of WOW Concert and Exhibition of Yachts
On Jul. 15, 2009, CAI Shouguo, the secretary of general office of Xiamen municipal government, led the related personnel of WOW Secretariat to inspect the preparation work of WOW Concert and Exhibition of Yachts.
The venue of WOW Concert had been set at the concert hall of Xiamen International Conference Center, the time had been set on Nov. 5, after the Welcome Banquet.
The Road & Bridge Group reported the preparation work of Exhibition of Yachts. At present, the work of invitation had been going as scheduled. This year, the total number of exhibition enterprises will achieve 100. The special contents of this exhibition include shows, testing drive of boats, industry seminar, procurement negotiation, new products introduction, stunt show and model show. Mr. CAI listened to the report and provided some suggestions.
The website of Xiamen World Ocean Week, both in Chinese and English, had been revised successfully
To promote the overall image of WOW and enrich the information & contents of WOW’s website, WOW Secretariat perfected and renewed the WOW’s website, which was increased by “featured articles”, “forum results” and “participants guide”. The revised website became more reasonable, richer and more perfect.
The forum on “Watershed and Estuary Management” is co-sponsored by WOW and WWW
The forum on “Watershed and Estuary Management” is co-sponsored by WOW and WWW in the first time for promoting the international influence of WOW. The forum invited Mr. Jakob Granit, Project Director of Stockholm International Water Institute and Prof. Jan Lundqvist to attend this forum and make presentations.
The officials of 30 countries will attend the forum on ocean and coastal management of developing countries
In strong support of Ministry of Commerce of China, this forum is co-sponsored by Fujian Marine Research Institute, Xiamen Oceans and Fisheries Bureau and Xiamen Technology Bureau. It will invite the leaders and experts of the Foreign Aid Department of Ministry of Commerce, International Cooperation Department of State Oceanic Administration, and also 60 officials from Asia, Africa, South Pacific and Caribbean and so on. The meeting scale is about 100 people.
The preparation work of fifth “Club Cup” Yachts Challenge is getting along smoothly
The fifth “Club Cup” Yachts Challenge is co-sponsored by Chinese Yachting Association and Xiamen Municipal Government, jointly undertook by Xiamen Sports Bureau, Xiamen Yachting Association and Xiamen Wanshi Sailing Club. The time had been set during the period from Sep. 30 to Oct. 7, 2009; the place had been set at outside sea of Wu Yuan Bay in Xiamen. It is estimated that the challenge will be participated by 18 teams. At present time, the teams from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen, Hong Kong and Taiwan had confirmed to attend the challenge.

                                                    The Activities of 2009 National Marine Awareness Day was held in Zhuhai
On Jul. 18, “The activities of 2009 National Marine Awareness Day” and Announcement Ceremonies of “Top Ten Marine Incidents” & “Top Ten Marine People” during 60 years from the foundation of PRC were held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. ZHOU Tienong, NPC Vice Chairman, LUO Fuhe, CPPCC National Committee Vice Chairman, SUN Zhihui, Director of State Oceanic Administration, WANG Yang, Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony.
The home activities were held in Zhuhai, at the same time, Liaoning Province, Dalian City, Hebei Province, Tianjing City, Shandong Province, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai City, Zhejiang Province, Ningbo City, Fujian Province, Guangdong Province, Shenzhen City, Guangxi Province and Hainan Province also held the characteristic activities, like cleaning the beach, publicizing oceanic knowledge, oceanic open day and so on. The Series Activities of 2009 National Marine Awareness Day also include the Marine Science Summer Camps for students from middle school at the end of the July and the 2nd Session of Marine Knowledge Competition of Colleague Students during the period from September to November.
