Scientific Forum on Watershed and Estuary Management is one of the key forums of WOW’2009, it is organized by WOW’2009 and undertaken by Xiamen University, four co-conveners also make great contributions to the Forum, and they are Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) /Westpac, Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ)-East Asia Node, Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI).

        In recent years, a cross-cutting issue is more and more frequently by international organizations and conservation/environmental fora that ocean and coastal management has tight relationship with watershed and estuary management, thus it is of great significance to link them together. Under this consideration, the theme of the forum focuses on Watershed and Estuary Management, and will raise further discussion on the impacts of global changes on estuary ecosystem, watershed resources and environmental management, scientific support, policies and approaches of integrated watershed and estuary management etc. It is expected that around 200 people will attend the forum, and several leading experts and scholars from all over the world will be invited to make presentations.
